Women's Rights Without Frontiers
You’ve probably heard of China’s infamous One Child Policy.
But did you know that this policy is regularly enforced by abortions and sterilizations that are carried out against the woman’s will?
Every day in China, women who become pregnant without a “Birth Permit” are forced to submit to abortions carried out by the officials of the oppressive government. Those who resist can befined or imprisoned, their families tortured or their homes torn down. These forced abortions can occur up to the ninth month of pregnancy, and sometimes kill women along with their much loved and wanted full term babies.
Forced abortion is a terrible human rights violation that is hurting China’s women and children.
There are currently 37 million more men than women in China, with up to 130,000 forced abortions and involuntary sterilizations of women in Linyi City in Shandong Province in one year alone (2005).Women’s Rights Without Frontiers is working to raise public awareness of the coercive enforcement of China’s One Child Policy, and champion freedom and justice by exposing violations of women’s rights, educating the public, and extending help to the victims themselves, as well as to those who stand up for freedom and justice for women.Voice for Life supports their work, and encourages all those who wish to help to visit the Women's Rights WIthout Frontiers website and sign the petition against forced abortions in China.
