Whanganui Branch Erects a Road Sign
Voice For Life in Whanganui had to jump through a great deal of bureaucratic red tape, but the group persevered and have successfully erected a roadside sign to spread the news to passing motorists that life should be respected and protected. The sign was erected on a local member's property but council imposed still more restrictions, including that the sign could only display up to seven words and that the sign had to be mobile. The ingenuity of the Voice For Life members in Whanganui could not be qushed, not even by the bureaucracy of the local council; the sign was erected on a trailer making it mobile and allowing the group to comply with the requirements of council. The image on the sign is a replica of the road sign on the Bombay Hills going south from Auckland showing a mother cuddling her baby with the caption “Give your baby a future: choose life”, however the members at Whanganui had to settle with just seven words: "Choose Life. Be a Voice For Life." Well done to Voice for Life Whanganui, contributing positively to a culture of life. The Wanganui Midweek featured an article reporting on the erection of the sign which you can view on page seven here.
