Voice for Life: Waimumu Field Days
Below a short report on VFL stall at Waimumu Field Days.
Voice for Life was represented at the 3 day biennial event known as Southern Field Days which is held at Waimumu (12km from Gore) in Southland during February. It attracts a huge number of people living in the community, residential and commercial, rural and urban. We were based in the magnificent purpose built brand new Events Center building. This building covers and area of 5000 square metres and can accommodate up to 200 stall holders which was at capacity this year. This has been a great opportunity for Voice for Life to showcase itself in the presence of 35-40,000 patrons. The stall attracted many visitors - the stall had various attractions including a television screen showing a DVD of life before birth, a 'Guess the Weight of the Baby' which was a model of a baby at about 24 weeks and over the 3 days over 700 people guessed the weight. Prizes were awarded to the closest answer. We also had members make 'Thumb-prints' and again over 700 were done. We gave away many balloons, bookmarks and good intentions. The 40 Week Timeline also was a huge attraction. Thanks to all the Gore, Winton and Invercargill volunteers who managed the stall.
