Voice for Life joins in presenting abortion petition to Parliament today
VOICE FOR LIFE PRESS RELEASETuesday 23 JulyVoice for Life will be present at the Beehive today to present a petition to Parliament opposing the introduction of an extreme abortion law in New Zealand. The petition has been signed by more than 13,000 New Zealanders who are opposed to the Labour Government's attempts to impose the most extreme abortion law in our country's history.Voice for Life media spokesperson Kate Cormack will be part of the team presenting the petition to MP's this morning."What's really important is that this petition represents the voices of local New Zealanders - we have gone to the effort of confirming that virtually all of the signatories to this petition are living in this country" says Kate Cormack."This really matters, because in recent years there has been a history of foreign lobby groups rallying their overseas members to falsely inflate the numbers of signatures on abortion petitions. This petition is not one of those. This is about our people making their voices heard."The petition of Gina Sunderland and 13,268 others opposes any attempt to introduce extreme abortion laws in NZ, such as the proposals of other groups to have abortion on-demand and right up to brith introduced in our country."What Jacinda Ardern and the Labour Government is attempting to do here is truly astounding, especially when you consider that they have no public mandate. This is simply wish fulfilment for a tiny minority of very vocal abortion ideologues, and it will waste valuable Parliamentary time and resources that should be used on more pressing social problems that our country is grappling with" says Kate Cormack.ENDS
