Health NZ Website On Drinking During Pregnancy Exposes The Grave Inconsistency Of The New Zealand Abortion Law
The Health New Zealand (Te Whatu Ora) website futurewithin.co.nz - a site dedicated to raising awareness about the harmful effects that drinking alcohol can have during pregnancy - exposes the serious moral inconsistency of New Zealand’s extreme abortion law.
In one section, the website points out that:
“One of the first sounds we are exposed to before birth is the
heartbeat of our māmā (mothers). Te Kapa Manawa refers to
this essential connection between māmā and pēpi (babies);
a sound before any other sound.”
In another section, it reminds visitors to the site:
“To help protect unborn babies, the best thing we can all do
is provide a safe, supportive environment…”
“The fact that Health New Zealand is promoting this fundamental truth
about the life and value of the unborn child, while at the same time
overseeing an abortion law which totally disregards their humanity
and wellbeing is truly astounding” says Voice For Life National
President, Lydia Posthuma.
“How can our institutions and political leaders maintain such a glaring
moral inconsistency? On the one hand they are calling for us to work to
protect and nurture our unborn children, while at the exact same time
claiming that ending their life is okay if they are deemed unwanted.”
The latest annual abortion report (published in late December 2024)
exposed that abortions have now risen by almost 23% since the passing
of the extreme Abortion Legislation Act in 2020.
The report also revealed that there has been a massive 67% increase in
late term abortions taking place at 20 weeks or more since the
Abortion Legislation Act was passed by the previous Labour Government.
“In the face of such glaring hypocrisy, and a disastrous piece of abortion
legislation we will continue to work for the rights and recognitions that
all unborn New Zealanders deserve. Our voice will not fall silent until
the violence of abortion is considered as unthinkable, and Aotearoa
New Zealand becomes a place of safety and care for all New Zealand
people” says Posthuma.
