COVID-19 has proved that we are NOT pro-choice - we are actually pro-abortion and pro-euthanasia

Last weekend, the End of Life Choice Act legalising euthanasia and assisted suicide came into force in New Zealand.

And at that moment, we witnessed yet another moment of serious ethical hypocrisy during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

You see, the rationale driving the legalisation of assisted suicide and euthanasia in our country is the ideology of ‘my body, my choice’.

The End of Life Choice Act takes that ideology and runs with it to such an extreme that certain suicides are now considered good and glamorous acts of bodily autonomy.

We should hardly be surprised by this though, because abortion has been invoking this exact same ideology to justify the killing of innocent human beings for many decades now.

Once we accepted the lie that deliberately killing innocent unborn human beings in the name of bodily autonomy was an acceptable practice, it was only a matter of time before that rationale was extended to suicide and the euthanasia of older humans beings as well.

But here’s the thing, what the last 18 months or so of the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed is the fact that our political leaders are not actually pro-choice, they are really pro-abortion and pro-euthanasia.

How do we know this?

Well, just last year, at the start of the pandemic, our Government passed one of the most extreme abortion laws in the world.

According to legal experts, Labour’s extreme Abortion Legislation Act allows abortion right up to, and even during birth, if someone can find an abortionist willing to carry out such an act.

The Abortion Legislation Act was constantly and loudly trumpeted as a victory for bodily autonomy and the right to freedom of choice.

Then, within just days of passing the Abortion Legislation Act, that very same Government put the entire country into total lockdown, followed by mask mandates, and then a law requiring mandatory movement tracking at all public venues.

This was about as total and complete a rejection of the right to bodily autonomy and freedom of choice as you are likely to see from a Government in a democratic Western nation.

All of a sudden you could face public ridicule and criminal censure if you even attempted to do anything other than the Government mandated bodily actions.

And right now, as the practice of assisted suicide and euthanasia by lethal injection has passed into law, this same government is sacking people who don’t wish to be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.

This speaks volumes about the truth of things.

Their commitment is not actually to freedom of choice, or bodily autonomy, those are just dishonest slogans used to hide the truth.

That truth is that they are not actually pro-choice, but pro-abortion, and pro-assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Those acts are permitted, while the others are not, because they are deemed to be good and worthy. The Government is pro you doing those things, but not the others - choice, freedom and autonomy were nothing more than cheap PR falsehoods to hide that fact.

The pro-life movement has always seen through this lie though, which is why we constantly remind people that every abortion involves at least two bodies - one of whom is denied all bodily rights, freedoms and choices, and is instead destroyed.

This isn’t just a Government lie though, the media and wider society are also participants in this duplicity.

Just yesterday, Newshub launched a poll asking Kiwis to vote on whether unvaccinated New Zealanders should be denied free healthcare if they require hospital treatment for COVID-19.

This isn’t the behaviour of a society that believes in freedom of choice and bodily autonomy - this is the behaviour of a society that is pro-abortion, pro-assisted suicide, pro-euthanasia, but anti people making certain other medical choices.

The fact that such a poll is even taking place is truly frightening - because what it is ultimately asking New Zealanders to do is to show their support for an horrendous violation of Hippocratic medicine and ethics.

This poll is asking Kiwis whether they would support the concept of healthcare professionals rejecting the bedrock principle of morally good medical ethics to do no harm.

Again, this should hardly be surprising, because the acts of abortion, assisted suicide and euthanasia also require healthcare professionals to violate the fundamental principle of do no harm.

As the old adage goes, be careful what you wish for, lest it come true, and what makes this object lesson in social morality we are currently embroiled in all the more alarming, is that it is far from over.
